More than twenty years ago, Sr. Thérése DelGenio envisioned helping people who are homeless on the southwest side of Chicago and adopted the PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) model. The location and the model have changed over the years, but the vision has remained the same. PADS guests are treated with respect and dignity and learn self-empowerment tools that lead to better choices.

Thanks to volunteers, individuals, various organizations and foundations, Southwest Chicago PADS is blessed to celebrate more than 20 years of service to people who are homeless.

Mission + Vision

A NOTE FROM our  executive director

Southwest chicago pads

When you see an individual on the street in the community who looks down and out, and you want to do something to help ... where can you go? If you're like most in our community, you think of Southwest Chicago PADS.

Why? Because the individual will be treated like a valued person by dedicated, compassionate professionals and volunteers in a warm, caring environment. Our organization has been recognized by the Governor, U.S. Senator, U.S. Congressman and our State Representatives for 20 years of outstanding service.

Thanks for the support that’s made it all possible!
